Using a Handsaw
Getting a Better Cut
Hold the hand saw with your index finger pointing in the direction of the saw cut (along the side of the saw). This will steady your hold on the hand saw and provide more control over the direction of your cut. This will also help to stop the hand saw from simply rolling in your hand.
Let the Handsaw Do The Work
Take your time and let the handsaw do the work, always cutting into the face of the material so that any break out is on the back face.
Handsaw Angle
Keep the saw cutting edge horizontal and avoid pulling the handsaw out of its guides. Always use a backless fine tooth handsaw with a minimum length of 20".
Always put the guard back on your saw to cover the saw teeth after use to avoid injury.
